Scholarships Description: The selected postdoc will also benefit from scientific exchange with the other research groups of the IAC, whose interests include cosmology, galaxies, the interstellar medium, stellar physics, exoplanets, telescope design and space projects. Duties: The selected candidate will carry out his/her research in the following fields: The generation and transfer of polarized radiation, with emphasis on the Hanle and Zeeman effects in chromospheric spectral lines; development and application of plasma diagnostic tools for the determination of chromospheric and coronal magnetic fields.
Applicants must be in possession of a PhD degree in Astrophysics or Physics at the time of appointment (the date of defense of the doctoral thesis must be after 1st January 2006). The gross annual salary is 32,886 €, subject to up to 20% tax and Social Security deductions. There are two positions, of 12 months and 6 months of duration.
